Copyright Information
The Law on Copyright
Reproducing an artist's work in any form, for any use, without the artist's consent, is illegal. Persons found reproducing images for re-sale without a license or prior agreement will be prosecuted under copyright law.
Sadly Copyright theft exists and although genuine and honest traders are doing their best to remove the small minority from trading in illegal wares it is still a problem. Copyright Law is there to protect both the artist and the buyer. Any evidence of copyright theft should be reported to the artist using the contact form on our site, information leading to prosecution will be rewarded with the print of your choice.
Generous discounts are given to genuine traders, please see Trade Discounts on the Artwork Licensing page.
Originals
When you buy a painting, you only own the painting - not the copyright. You do not have right to reproduce the painting or profit from it in any way. The artist retains the copyright after the sale of his work and does not need to ask the owner of the original for permission to reproduce or licence his work. After the death of the artist, the copyright transfers to his heirs and is theirs for 50 years before it passes into the public domain.
