1930s High Street

Plenty of horse drawn vehicles are still around on the 30s high street, here in the form of Great Western Railway delivery wagons. Between them is a red MG C Type Midget and in the distance a Sentinel steam wagon and an Albion bus can be seen. An Austin Six is parked outside the cinema just behind a Walls Ice Cream delivery tricycle.

This print is part of the Passage of Time series - a set of four fascinating pictures depicting a typical British high street over four decades, from the 1930s to the 60s. It's not only the vehicles and costumes that changes with the Passage of Time, but the posters outside the cinema and newsagents illustrate the popular films and headlines of each period.
